Practical Hinduism Workbook Introduction
The study presented in this workbook is not a mere intellectual one of learning new information about Hindu philosophy and practice. It has as its primary focus practising the teachings that are studied—in fact practising them throughout the entire day. As the lessons themselves explain in detail, it is practice that moves one forward on the path of spiritual unfoldment.
The idea of integration of Hinduism into our everyday actions is a dominant theme. The workbook encourages you to “Perform every task in ways that it advances you spiritually.” To provide a simple reminder, the five major ways of performing a task so that it advances you spiritually can be described as “A,B,C,D, and E.”
A is for Awareness. Control thoughts and remain in the eternal now.
B is for Benevolence. Seek out opportunities to help and uplift others.
C is for Character. Strengthen character qualities.
D is for Devotion. Interweave worship and prayer.
E is for Effort. Put full energy into the task and do it well.
The test of success in this endeavor is that after completing a task, you should feel it advanced you a tiny bit spiritually.
